I think it’s about time for me to bring back Al Jones SOTD. (Song of the Day) For those that know me well, music is something near and dear to my heart. I started this little concept on Facebook three years ago to keep my friends up to date on new and interesting music. It exploded into a daily regiment that I did five days a week, Mon-Fri. I decided that I need to bring back that love and feeling to Jones and B. With that said, today’s SOTD is “Astral Weeks” by the great Van Morrison.

“Astral Weeks” is the first track off Morrison’s 1968 classic album with the same name. The song however is timeless, and fits in perfectly to music of the modern times. One thing that stands out about Morrison is his powerful raspy voice. Accompany that with eloquent guitar strumming and you have the perfect piece of musical magic. I heard Glen Hansard of the Frames do a kick ass cover of this song at a show at the Beacon Theater in New York City, and ever since I heard that version, it made me appreciate the original even more.

If you get a chance today, check out this tune!
