So the truth is out…I kinda have a crush on Karen O. Since the Yeah Yeah Yeahs exploded out of Brooklyn onto the music scene in 2000, I have always been captivated by Karen O, the lead singer and hearbeat of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. She has an unbelievable stage presence that sets her apart from all other females in rock music but maybe any musician out there regardless of gender. She is exhibitionist on stage. Whether its her creative costumes, or sex-enduced dance moves, Karen O finds a way to seduce the audience throughout an entire YYY’s performance, because when she gets into her groove you just can’t take your eyes off her. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have been consistently good since their inception, producing quality LP’s since their debut Fever To Tell gave them major buzz on the indie scene. This past year the power trio released their 5th album, Mosquito. Im super stoked to be seeing them live tonight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York in support of this album. “Under the Earth” is one of my favorite tracks off the new album. The album was produced by long time YYY buddy Dave Steik (from TV on the Radio) as well as Nick Launay, and LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy. The YYY’s have always toed the line between punk, pop, and dance, and all three elements are on display on Mosquito. If you haven’t picked up this album, its worth snatching up.
