I love when I hear a new artist that restores my faith in the power of music. I felt this way about Wild Belle the first time I heard their debut album Isles. If you can’t tell by now I am a big fan of indie rock, but after listening to this album you can tell that Wild Belle is influenced by a wide variety of musical genres. One thing that I love about them is their love of reggae music. Reggae vibes and the ever so common “one drop” that is a mainstay in old school grass roots reggae is prevalent all over Wild Belle’s debut album. Elements of soul, jazz, and rock are found all over Isles, which is what makes it such a fun album to listen to. Wild Belle consists of siblings Natalie and Elliot Bergman. They represent the Chicago area. I am very excited to catch out Wild Belle this weekend when they perform at Weekend 2 of the Austin City Limits music festival. Today’s SOTD is one of the standout tracks from Isles, the reggae influenced “It’s Too Late.” Enjoy.
