I miss INXS. But let me clarify, I miss Michael Hutchense INXS. INXS was one of the biggest bands in the world in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Released in 1987, Kick went on to be the Australian band’s most successful studio album. The album was certified six times platinum and carried four Top 10 US singles including today’s SOTD for THROWBACK THURSDAY, “Need You Tonight.” Everything about this song is dope. It’s an incredibly sexy track. The guitar riff is instantly recognizable and the song has such a cool groove to it, you can’t help but nod your head to it. Hutchense, the late great lead singer for INXS, who passed away in 1997 far too soon, carries this song with his seductive voice, speaking the lyrics in an almost rap like/spoken word fashion before hitting the vocals hard throughout the choruses. “Need You Tonight” reached number 1 on the Bilboard Top 100. It was the band’s only #1 song. I am happy to make this song today’s SOTD.
